Auto phone tests (also called timer or periodic tests) help verify that a system is communicating and that the monitoring station is receiving signals. The process can be different from panel to panel, and can be programmed from different ways.

Important: For auto phone tests to forward to the monitoring station, Manual/Auto Tests must be selected as an Event Group to Forward in the customer's monitoring settings. For information about updating the monitoring settings, see Change the monitoring settings on a customer account. 

To configure auto phone tests using the Partner Portal: 

1. Log into the Partner Portal.
2. Find the customer account.
3. Click Remote Toolkit.
4. In Timers, click Q29: Enter periodic test, in days (0-255).
5. In the New value field, enter the desired test interval in days. 
   • The first auto phone test is sent after the selected number of days have passed. For example, if 30 is entered, the auto phone test sends after 30 days have passed and continue to send every 30 days after that.
6. Click Change. 

To configure auto phone tests using the MobileTech app:  

1. Log into the MobileTech app.
2. Find the customer account.
3. Tap Equipment.
4. Tap Remote Toolkit. 
5. Tap Command Catalog. 
6. Tap to expand Timers.
7. Tap Q29: Enter periodic test, in days (0-255).
8. In the New value field, enter the desired test interval in days. 
   • The first auto phone test is sent after the selected number of days have passed. For example, if 30 is entered, the auto phone test sends after 30 days have passed and continue to send every 30 days after that.
9. Tap Change. 

To configure auto phone tests using the 2GIG GoControl panel: 

1. Go to the home screen.
2. Tap Security.
3. Tap Menu.
4. Tap Toolbox.
5. Enter the installer code.
6. Tap Installer Toolbox.
7. Tap System Configuration.
8. Tap Go to, then tap [29] to go to Q29: Enter periodic test, in days (0-255).
9. Enter the desired test interval in days. 
   • The first auto phone test is sent after the selected number of days have passed. For example, if 30 is entered, the auto phone test sends after 30 days have passed and continue to send every 30 days after that.
10. Tap End. 
11. Verify Save changes is selected, then tap Exit. The system reboots to save the changes.
