How to Factory Reset a Video Device (Bottom Reset/WPS Button)

Resetting a video device to factory defaults removes all programming and memory, restoring it to its original state. After resetting, the device must be re-enrolled to your account and reconfigured.

Important Notes

  • Wait at least 2 minutes after powering on before attempting the reset. If the device is still starting up, the reset may fail.
  • Once reset, the LED may briefly turn off — this is normal. Leave the device powered on and undisturbed for 2 minutes after the reset.
  • All recording rules, motion detection windows, and preferences will be cleared.

Factory Reset Procedure

  1. Locate the Reset/WPS button on the underside of the camera.
  2. Press and hold the button for approximately 15 seconds.
  3. Release the button once the LED begins flashing green and red.
  4. The camera will reboot with factory default settings.

After the Reset

  • Re-add the camera to your Alarm.com account.
  • Reconfigure recording schedules, notifications, and any other custom settings.
  • Confirm the device shows as healthy and streaming live video before completing setup.

Troubleshooting

  • If the LED does not flash green and red, confirm you are holding the correct button on the underside of the camera.
  • Be sure the camera has been powered on for at least 2 minutes before retrying.

Will this erase all my settings?

Yes. A factory reset removes all programming, so the device must be re-added and customized again.

What if the LED turns off during reset?
