What are the Power Requirements for a Qolsys IQ Panel 2?

Measuring panel voltage is a common troubleshooting step when experiencing odd behavior on a panel. Most often, this step is required when there is a Modem-Panel Comm message, or the panel is not communicating properly with Alarm.com. If the voltage drops low, a modem-panel communication trouble may occur.

Voltage cannot be measured for a Qolsys IQ Panel 2 using a voltmeter. Verify the power supply has the required voltage.

Use only the following transformer power supplies for connecting the Qolsys IQ Panel 2. Anything else may result in the panel being damaged and would void the warranty of the panel.

DC Transformer  Wire
5.5vDC  Use 18AWG wire no longer than 25 feet to ensure sufficient power is received at the panel.
7vDC

Use 18AWG wire no longer than 100 feet to ensure sufficient power is received at the panel.

Important: A 7vDC power sypply is only supported on panels with hardware revision E or newer.

Note: The minimum permissible wire size is 22 AWG.

The following wiring diagram comes from the panel installation guide.
