Measuring Panel Voltage on a Qolsys IQ Panel 2

Measuring panel voltage is an important troubleshooting step when your Qolsys IQ Panel 2 experiences odd behavior, such as a Modem-Panel Comm error or communication issues with Alarm.com. Voltage drops can cause modem-panel communication troubles and disrupt system performance.

Important: Voltage cannot be measured directly on a Qolsys IQ Panel 2 using a voltmeter. Instead, verify that the power supply provides the correct voltage and is wired properly.

Approved Transformer Power Supplies

Only use the following approved transformer power supplies for the Qolsys IQ Panel 2. Using any other type may damage the panel and void the warranty.

DC Transformer Wiring Guidelines
5.5vDC Use 18 AWG wire, no longer than 25 feet, to ensure sufficient power delivery.
7vDC Use 18 AWG wire, no longer than 100 feet.
Note: Supported only on panels with hardware revision E or newer.

Wiring Notes

  • The minimum permissible wire size is 22 AWG.
  • Ensure all wiring connections are secure to prevent voltage drops.
  • Always verify panel hardware revision before using a 7vDC power supply.

Tip: Refer to your panel’s installation guide for wiring diagrams. Contact True Protection Support if you need help verifying your transformer setup.
