Qolsys IQ Panel 2 – Face Recognition for Unexpected Activity

Face Recognition on the Qolsys IQ Panel 2 allows customers to detect unauthorized code sharing by comparing disarm images to assigned users. If an unexpected face is detected, a notification is sent along with the disarm image so customers can take immediate action.

Requirements

  • Qolsys IQ Panel 2 with firmware version 2.3.0+
  • Panel connected to Wi-Fi (for image uploads)
  • Capture Panel Camera Disarm Images automation rule enabled
  • Each person must have their own unique access code
  • Interactive service package (e.g., Interactive Gold, Commercial Plus) including:
    • Unexpected Activity Alerts
    • Images - Plus
  • Available only for customers in the U.S.

Turn On Face Recognition

  1. Log into the Customer Website using the primary account.
  2. Go to Settings → Face Recognition.
  3. Review and accept the required agreements:
    • Permission to store and use biometric data (mandatory).
    • Optional donation of images to improve system accuracy.
  4. Disarm the panel multiple times over several days to build a library of images.

Review and Verify Disarm Images

  1. Log into the Customer Website.
  2. Go to Users → Facial Recognition → Calibration.
  3. Approve or reject disarm images. At least 10 approved images are required for a user; 20 recommended for best accuracy.

Configure Unexpected Activity Notifications

Once face recognition is enabled, customers can configure notifications for unexpected activity:

Using the Customer Website

  1. Log into the Customer Website.
  2. Go to Notifications → Unexpected Activity.
  3. Toggle On and select facial recognition settings and recipients.
  4. Click Save.

Using the Customer App

  1. Open the Customer App.
  2. Tap Notifications → Unexpected Activity.
  3. Enable the notification and select recipients.
  4. Tap Save.

Troubleshooting

Disarm Images Not Uploading

  • Check if images appear in the Event Gallery.
  • Verify Capture Panel Camera Disarm Images is enabled.
  • Check that the monthly upload limit has not been reached.

Notifications Not Received

  • Ensure the user has at least 10 approved disarm images.
  • Confirm Unexpected Activity notifications are enabled for that user.
  • Verify recipients are listed under the notification settings.
