The Qolsys IQ Panel 2’s panel camera can function as a motion detector. Enabling the panel camera motion detector creates an independent zone that leverages the panel’s built-in camera to act as an activity motion detector. This falls into the zone order at the time you enable this feature. Motion can trip once every 4 minutes.

Important: The panel motion detector requires light to detect motion (non-functional in the dark) and is only intended for activity monitoring sensor (not reporting to the monitoring station). The purpose of the panel motion is to capture motion events that can be used to trigger event-driven automation rules on Alarm.com.

There are no additional service package add-on's required for this feature.

To enable the panel camera motion detector

The panel camera motion detector can be enabled using the Partner Portal, MobileTech app, or the Qolsys IQ panel 2. By default, this feature is disabled. 

Important: This feature can not be enabled if Panel IP Camera is enabled in panel programming. For more information about this feature, see Qolsys IQ Panel 2 Software Version 2.5.0 - Installation Guide. 

Using the Partner Portal:

1. Log into the Partner Portal.
2. Find the customer account.
3. Click Remote Toolkit.
4. In Command Catalog, click Sensors.
5. Click Panel Camera Motion Detector.
6. Using the dropdown menu, select Enable.
7. Click Change.

Using the MobileTech app:

1. Log into the MobileTech app. 
2. Find the customer account.
3. Tap Remote Toolkit.
4. Tap Command Catalog.
5. Tap to expand Sensors.
6. Tap Panel Camera Motion Detector.
7. Using the dropdown menu, select Enable.
8. Tap Change.

Using the panel:

1. Go to the home screen.
2. Tap Settings.
3. Tap Advanced Settings.
4. Enter the installer code. 
5. Tap Installation.
6. Tap Installer Settings.
7. Tap Panel Motion Detector.
8. Enter the device properties.
9. Tap Save.
   
   

Panel motion settings 

Masking and sensitivity settings for the built-in panel motion detector can be adjusted using the Qolsys IQ Panel 2. 

​​​​​​To adjust the settings for the panel motion detector using the panel: 

1. Tap Settings.
2. Tap Advanced Settings.
3. Enter the installer code. 
4. Tap Installation.
5. Tap Devices. 
6. Tap Security Sensors. 
7. Tap Panel motion settings. 
8. To mask off up to four customizable areas to prevent false triggers: 

        a. Tap Add Mask. 

        b. Tap and drag the green square area over locations that should not be taken in to account for motion pixelation change. In the following example, the mask is over the laundry basket so the pixelation change in that area is not accounted for. 


 

        c. Tap Save Mask. Up to four independent mask areas can be drawn.

 9. To adjust sensitivity settings: 

        a. Tap Setting. 

        b. Tap to select either: 

• Low for the least amount of sensitivity to motion. This is the default sensitivity setting. 
• Medium for more sensitivity to motion.
• High for the most sensitivity to motion.
  Note: Use the bar on the side of the screen to determine the trigger threshold. When no bars appear, it indicates that no motion is being detected. When bars are full or in the red zone, it indicates that a lot of motion is being detected.

        c. Tap OK to save the motion sensitivity setting.
