Battery Warnings & Safety Tips
- Use new AA alkaline batteries (three required). Replace as soon as Low Batt flashes, or at least once per year.
- Failure to replace batteries can cause the thermostat to lose power, leading to overheating or overcooling and potential HVAC damage.
- If batteries fail with heat OFF, risk of no heat and possible frozen/burst pipes. If with cool OFF, risk of no cooling and excessive temperatures.
- If leaving home for a month or more, replace batteries beforehand as a precaution.
Steps to Replace Batteries in the CT30e
- Remove the cover. Slide the front cover straight off to access the battery compartment.
- Insert three new AA alkaline batteries. Follow the polarity diagram. Insert the negative end against the spring first, then press the positive end in. Repeat for all three.
- Press the Reset button. The Reset button (under the top cover) implements the HVAC switch selections.
- Reattach the cover. Slide the cover back on until it seats flush.
- Restore AC power. Turn the breaker back on if it was switched off. The CT30e will power up in OFF mode.
