Battery Warnings & Safety Tips

  • Use new AA alkaline batteries (three required). Replace as soon as Low Batt flashes, or at least once per year.
  • Failure to replace batteries can cause the thermostat to lose power, leading to overheating or overcooling and potential HVAC damage.
  • If batteries fail with heat OFF, risk of no heat and possible frozen/burst pipes. If with cool OFF, risk of no cooling and excessive temperatures.
  • If leaving home for a month or more, replace batteries beforehand as a precaution.

Steps to Replace Batteries in the CT30e

  1. Remove the cover. Slide the front cover straight off to access the battery compartment.
  2. Insert three new AA alkaline batteries. Follow the polarity diagram. Insert the negative end against the spring first, then press the positive end in. Repeat for all three.

  4. Reattach the cover. Slide the cover back on until it seats flush.
