The Qolsys IQ Panel 2 has the option to remotely upgrade the panel, enable automatic updates, and also perform bulk upgrades to multiple panels.

Important: The update is sent through IP only, so the panel must be disarmed and connected to Wi-Fi in order to send.  Updates may take up to a few hours to apply at the panel based on upgrade server demand, the customer's internet speed, and other variables.

Individual panel upgrades

Panel software updates on the Qolsys IQ Panel 2 can be performed using the Partner Portal or MobileTech app.  For additional instructions about upgrading locally, refer to the panel manufacturer.

To upgrade the Qolsys IQ Panel 2 firmware using the Partner Portal: 

1. Log into the Partner Portal.
2. Find the customer account.
3. Click Remote Toolkit.
4. In the Command Catalog, click to expand General.
5. Click Software Update. 
   Important: To apply an update through Wi-Fi, the panel's Wi-Fi must be connected. If updating through Wi-Fi is an option, it is available to select on the upgrade page. The panel applies the update once the patch is successfully downloaded and the panel is disarmed.
6. If there are new versions available, select the version to upgrade to using the Patch to Apply dropdown menu.
7. Using the User Acknowledgement dropdown menu, select Yes or No to indicate whether or not the user should receive a message to acknowledge at the panel before the upgrade begins. 
8. Click Upgrade to apply the update.
   Caution: There may be an associated cost with the upgrades. If there is a cost, it displays on the screen.
9. Once the update is complete, the change reflects in the customer's panel information on the Partner Portal and MobileTech app.
   • A Task OTA Complete message appears in the customer's event history for rep logins with the Dealer Administrator role when the update is finished sending to the panel. 

To upgrade the Qolsys IQ Panel 2 firmware using the MobileTech app: 

1. Log into the MobileTech app.
2. Find the customer account.
3. Tap Remote Toolkit.
4. Tap Command Catalog.
5. Tap to expand General. 
6. Tap Software Update. 
   Important: To apply an update through Wi-Fi, the panel's Wi-Fi must be connected. If updating through Wi-Fi is an option, it is available to select on the upgrade page. The panel applies the update once the patch is successfully downloaded and the panel is disarmed.
7. If there are new versions available, select the version to upgrade to using the Patch to Apply dropdown menu.
8. Using the User Acknowledgement dropdown menu, select Yes or No to indicate whether or not the user should receive a message to acknowledge at the panel before the upgrade begins. 
9. Tap Upgrade to apply the update.

Bulk upgrades

Qolsys IQ Panel 2 has the option to send upgrades to multiple panels simultaneously. 

To bulk upgrade multiple Qolsys IQ Panel 2 panels: 

1. Log into the Partner Portal. This can only be performed using the Partner Portal. 
2. Mouse over Customers, then click Firmware Upgrades. The Bulk Firmware Upgrade Page displays the number of customers applicable for bulk upgrades. 
3. Using the Patch dropdown menu, select a patch and then click Update Search. 
4. In Table 1, the table displays all panels that are eligible for an upgrade. To apply the update to all eligible panels, click Request Upgrade for All Eligible Panels. 
   Note: Table 2 lists panels that are not eligible due to incompatible firmware versions, and Table 3 list panels that have eligible firmware versions but are not eligible for the remote upgrade due to no Wi-Fi connection. 

Automatic updates 

There is the option to enable automatic updates on the Qolsys IQ Panel 2 using the Partner Portal or MobileTech app. 

To enable automatic updates using the Partner Portal: 

1. Log into the Partner Portal. 
2. Find the customer account. 
3. Click Equipment.
4. Click Panel. 
5. In Panel Information, click View Panel Settings. 
6. Search for the setting Background Download for Updates. 
7. Click  on the setting to configure it. 
8. Using the New Value dropdown menu, select Enable. 
9. Click Change. This allows the panel to update software automatically when available. 

To enable automatic updates using the MobileTech app: 

1. Log into the MobileTech app. 
2. Find the customer account. 
3. Tap Equipment.
4. Tap Panel. 
5. In Panel Information, click View Panel Settings. 
6. Find the panel setting Background Download for Updates. 
7. Tap Edit on the setting to configure it. 
8. Using the New value dropdown menu, select Enable. 
9. Tap Change. This allows the panel to update software automatically when available.
