Qolsys IQ Panel 2 — Hard Reset Options (Remote Toolkit)

Use this guide to understand each hard reset available for the Qolsys IQ Panel 2 from the Partner Portal’s Remote Toolkit—what it resets, when to try it, and whether the action is delayed.

Before You Begin

These options are sent remotely from the Partner Portal > Remote Toolkit. If you specifically need instructions for issuing the command, see your internal process for sending a Hard Reset command to a module.

Tip: If the touchscreen is frozen, try Reboot Panel first. If an Alarm.com feature looks off (events, connectivity), try Alarm.com Service or Alarm.com App reset as appropriate.

Hard Reset Options Explained

Reboot Panel Performs a safe, full panel reboot. Best first step for frozen or non-responsive touchscreen. Yes
Home Application Resets the Android framework layer on the panel (deeper than an app-only reset). No
Qolsys Service Resets much of the Qolsys software stack (not the Android layer). Use when panel menus/features are unresponsive. No
Alarm.com Service Resets the Alarm.com service on the panel that handles platform connectivity/features. Yes
Alarm.com App Resets the Alarm.com app on the panel (Cellular Test, Image Sensor Config, Dual-Path settings). Not the mobile app. No
Z-Wave Controller Resets the Z-Wave radio/controller. Try if Z-Wave functions fail even when Z-Wave shows enabled. If it won’t enable after this, reboot the panel. No
Cellular Radio Fully resets the cellular radio. Useful for intermittent cellular issues. Requires some connectivity; if radio is totally down, do a local reboot. Yes
Image Sensor Daughterboard Resets the Image Sensor daughterboard/radio. Use if Image Sensor components intermittently fail or images aren’t uploading. No
Wi-Fi Radio Toggles Wi-Fi OFF then ON with ~15s delay. Dual-Path status and Uploader/Downloader should reflect the new state within a minute. Assumes SSID/password already correct. Yes

Which Reset Should I Try?

  • Panel frozen/UI oddities: Reboot Panel → Qolsys Service → Home Application (in that order).
  • Alarm.com features off (events, rules, tests): Alarm.com Service → Alarm.com App.
  • Z-Wave commands failing: Z-Wave Controller reset → if still failing, Reboot Panel.
  • Cellular flakiness: Cellular Radio reset → if no improvement, local reboot and re-test comms.
  • Image uploads failing (Image Sensor): Image Sensor Daughterboard reset, then verify rules and signal strength.
  • Wi-Fi/Dual-Path issues: Wi-Fi Radio toggle, then re-check Dual-Path status.

After Sending a Reset

  • Allow a minute or two for delayed resets to complete and for status to refresh.
  • Run quick health checks (e.g., communication test, Dual-Path test, Z-Wave rediscovery if needed).
  • Confirm expected features (live video, notifications, device control) are back online.
