Restore a Qolsys IQ Panel Backup to a Qolsys IQ Panel 2

You can restore sensor programming and user codes from a Qolsys IQ Panel to a Qolsys IQ Panel 2 using the Partner Portal or MobileTech app.

Important Considerations

  • This guide applies to restoring from a Qolsys IQ Panel to an IQ Panel 2. For same-model swaps (e.g., IQ Panel 2 → IQ Panel 2), follow the Swap Panel and Module process.
  • Only sensors and user codes are restored; panel programming settings are not transferred.
  • Z-Wave devices do not back up and must be relearned on the new panel.
  • Any enrolled Image Sensors must be deleted before backup/restore, then re-enrolled afterward.
  • Backups from a DSC Touch cannot be restored to an IQ Panel or IQ Panel 2.

Step 1: Back Up the Old Panel

  1. Log into the Partner Portal.
  2. Verify that a recent backup exists for the panel. If not, create a backup while the old panel is still functional.
  3. Once backup is confirmed, power down the old IQ Panel and the new IQ Panel 2.

If the old panel is not functional, Alarm.com may have an automatic backup saved.

Step 2: Apply Backup Settings

With both panels powered down, use either Partner Portal or MobileTech:

Using Partner Portal

  1. Log in and find the customer account.
  2. Go to Remote ToolkitCommand CatalogGeneral.
  3. Select Swap Panel.
  4. Check Sensor List and User Codes. Do not select Panel Settings when swapping panel models.
  5. Click Apply.

Using MobileTech

  1. Log in and open the customer account.
  2. Tap Remote ToolkitCommand CatalogGeneral.
  3. Select Swap Panel.
  4. Choose Sensor List and User Codes only.
  5. Tap Apply.

Step 3: Swap the Module

Using Partner Portal

  1. Log in and find the customer account.
  2. Go to Customer InfoSwap Module.
  3. Enter the 15-digit serial number of the new module.
  4. Do not select Restore Settings, as this can cause issues between different panel models.
  5. Click Submit.

Using MobileTech

  1. Log into MobileTech and find the customer account.
  2. Tap Quick ActionsSwap Module.
  3. Enter the 15-digit serial number of the new module.
  4. Do not select Restore Settings.
  5. Tap Submit.

Step 4: Complete the Restoral

  • Power up the IQ Panel 2.
  • Wait 15–30 minutes for restore to complete.
  • Run a communication test to verify successful setup.
