How to Factory Reset a Video Device
Resetting a video device to factory default settings removes all existing programming and restores the device to its original state. After a reset, most devices must be removed from the account and re-enrolled before they can be used again.
Important Notes Before Resetting
- Wait at least 2 minutes for the device to fully power on before starting the reset. Attempting too early may cause the reset to fail.
- After resetting, leave the device plugged in and undisturbed for another 2 minutes to complete the process.
- Once reset, the device’s LED may briefly turn off — this is normal behavior.
Factory Reset Procedure
- Locate the Reset button. It is in the pinhole labeled “Reset” at the back left corner of the device.
- Using a paperclip or similar tool, press and hold the Reset button.
- Continue holding until the LED begins to rapidly flash red and green (usually after about 15 seconds).
- Release the button and wait for the device to restart.
After the Reset
- The device will need to be re-added to your Alarm.com account.
- Follow your specific device’s installation guide to re-enroll it.
- Reconfigure any custom settings or recording rules.
Troubleshooting
- If the reset does not complete, ensure the device has been powered on for at least 2 minutes before retrying.
- If the LED does not flash red and green, check that you are pressing the correct pinhole Reset button.
- For continued issues, review the device’s installation guide in User Guide Documents.
