Use WPS to enroll the ADC-V522IR

WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) is a protocol supported by most routers. When WPS mode is triggered on both the router and the camera, they will attempt to connect, and the router will automatically pass the wireless information (e.g., SSID, password, etc.) to the camera. This removes the need to input this information manually.

This is useful in situations where the password is incorrect or unknown, wireless issues are present, or if many cameras need to be rapidly learned into the network.

To use WPS to connect and enroll the ADC-V522IR:

Power up the video camera:
  1. Connect the camera’s AC adapter and plug it into a non-switched outlet. The camera’s LED should illuminate red while it boots up. If the standard power supply is too short to reach an outlet, extension cables are available for the video device. For more information about how to extend the power supply, see How do I extend the power supply of a camera?.
  2. Wait for the camera to finish its startup process. This should take approximately 2 minutes for most Alarm.com video cameras.
Activate WPS on the camera and router:
  1. Press and hold the camera’s WPS button for about 3 seconds and release once the LED starts flashing blue. If the LED turns solid blue, hold down the WPS button for 1 second to clear the light, and then try again. For more information about the typical LED status indicators for Alarm.com video devices, see What does my camera's LED light mean?.
  2. Press the corresponding WPS button on the router. Often, an LED status light flashes on the router to indicate that WPS is active. If the WPS button on the router is disabled or missing and an alternative connection method is needed, see Connect the video device to an internet network.

  3. Wait for the status LED on the video device to turn solid green. If the video device's status LED does not turn solid green, retry the WPS connection, or for alternative connection options, see Connect the video device to an internet network.
Enroll the camera to the customer account:

Once the video camera is connected to the Wi-Fi, follow the on-screen instructions to associate the camera to the customer's account using the Customer app Video Installation Wizard, Customer Website (www.alarm.com/addcamera), or MobileTech app.

For more information about enrolling the camera to the account using one of those methods, see Enroll the video device to the customer account.

Note: The MAC address for the ADC-V522IR is located behind the camera's stem. To view the cameras MAC address, twist the camera to either side as shown in the following image:

Additional considerations:

  • The camera should be enrolled close to the router before mounting in its final location.
  • Some routers have WPS disabled by default. It can be turned on in the router's interface, but that requires accessing the customer's router.
  • Some routers do not have WPS functionality. Look for the button and LED indicators.
  • The LED for WPS on routers has different indicators based on model/brand. Common indicators include:
    • Blinking green.
    • Blinking white.
    • Blinking red, which usually means WPS is turned off in the router.
