Change the name of a system partition

Partitions can be renamed remotely using the Partner Portal, MobileTech app, or the Customer Website. Partitions are ordered alphabetically in the Customer app, so renaming a partition can help change a partition's position in a partition list.

Compatibility

The following panels are compatible with renaming the system partition using the Partner Portal or MobileTech app: 

  • 2GIG GC3 
  • 2GIG GC3e 
  • Qolsys IQ Panel 
  • SEM-Honeywell/ADEMCO Vista Dual-Path

To rename a partition using the Partner Portal:

Note: If this option is not available, the panel does not support renaming partitions using the Partner Portal or MobileTech app's Remote Toolkit. To rename the partition, see Rename a partition using the Customer Website or locally change it using the keypad. 

  1. Log into the Partner Portal.
  2. Find the customer account.
  3. Click Remote Toolkit.
  4. In Command Catalog, click to expand Sensors.
  5. Click Change Partition Names.
  6. Enter the new partition name in the Partition Name field of the desired partition to rename.
  7. Click Send Command. This command can take up to 5 minutes and changes the name on both the website and the panel.

To rename a partition using the MobileTech app: 

Note: If this option is not available, the panel does not support renaming partitions using the Partner Portal or MobileTech app's Remote Toolkit. To rename the partition, see Rename a partition using the Customer Website or locally change it using the keypad. 

  1. Log into the MobileTech app. 
  2. Find the customer account.
  3. Tap Remote Toolkit.
  4. Tap Command Catalog.
  5. Tap to expand Sensors.
  6. Tap Change Partition Names.
  7. Enter the new partition name in the Partition Name field of the desired partition to rename.
  8. Tap Send Command. This command can take up to 5 minutes and changes the name on both the website and the panel.

To rename a partition using the Customer Website:

All panels are compatible with renaming the system partition using the Customer Website. 

Note: Requesting Login with Access from the Partner Portal to the Customer Website allows access to change the name of partitions if the customer and rep logins have the proper permissions. For more information about Login with Access, see Using Login with Access

  1. Log into the Customer Website.
  2. In the Panel card, click Details.
  3. Click Configure.
  4. In the Device Name field, enter the new name for the panel partition.
  5. Close the System Settings window to save the change.
