Getting started
Install Rain Bird, connect the system to Wi-Fi, and configure programs and zones in the Rain Bird app before adding Rain Bird to an Alarm.com account. For more information, see Rain Bird Wi-Fi Controller - Installation Guide.
Hardware compatibility
Alarm.com is compatible with the following Rain Bird hardware:
- ESP-TM2 with LNK Wi-Fi Module
- Compatible ESP-TM2's such as the one pictured below have an all-green control plate. If the control plate has any multi-colored buttons, it is not compatible.
- Compatible ESP-TM2's such as the one pictured below have an all-green control plate. If the control plate has any multi-colored buttons, it is not compatible.
- ESP-Me or ESP-ME3, shipped after November 2, 2016 with LNK Wi-Fi Module
- Compatible ESP-Me’s will have the LNK Ready icon on the panel. If the controller does not have the LNK Ready icon, the panel can be swapped out for a newer version without re-wiring the controller.
- Compatible ESP-Me’s will have the LNK Ready icon on the panel. If the controller does not have the LNK Ready icon, the panel can be swapped out for a newer version without re-wiring the controller.
To add the Rain Bird Controller to an Alarm.com account:
- Write down or photograph the serial number on the back of the LNK Wi-Fi Module.
- On a mobile device, log into the Rain Bird app.
- Select the Controller, then tap the Settings icon.
- Tap to expand Connected Home, then tap the toggle switch next to Alarm.com.
- Return to the home page of the Rain Bird app.
The Rain Bird Controller can now be added to an Alarm.com account using the Partner Portal or MobileTech app.
To add the Rain Bird Controller to an account using the Partner Portal:
- Log into the Partner Portal.
- Find the customer account and verify the Irrigation service package add-on has been added to the account.
- Click Equipment.
- Click Rain Bird.
- Click Add Controller.
- Enter the serial number located on the back of the controller’s Wi-Fi Stick, then click Continue.
- Repeat this process for each controller that will be controlled via this Alarm.com account.
To add the Rain Bird Controller to an account using the MobileTech app:
- Log into the MobileTech app.
- Find the customer account and verify the Irrigation service package add-on has been added to the account.
- Tap Equipment.
- Tap Irrigation Devices.
- Tap Add Rain Bird Controller.
- Enter the serial number located on the back of the controller’s Wi-Fi Stick, then tap Continue.
- Repeat this process for each controller that will be controlled via this Alarm.com account.

Note: It is required to use the Alarm.com Customer app to view Irrigation details. Irrigation is not available on the Alarm.com Customer Website.
Irrigation card
The Irrigation Card displays the status of your Rain Bird controller, whether it is currently in use or when it was last in use. It also displays if the controller is currently in Rain Delay or has a seasonal adjust.

- Start or stop watering an individual zone
- View the last time each zone was watered
Usage tips
- Zones are named numerically.
- To update the zone names to match the Rain Bird app via the MobileTech app, select the zone and update the name.
- To update the zone names to match the Rain Bird app via the MobileTech app, select the zone and update the name.
- When watering, it is not possible to interact with any other zone or program. To make changes, tap Stop Watering.
- To water select zones that are not in a program, tap Water All Zones and deselect zones as desired.
- Program names are visible in the Alarm.com Customer app, but the program details, including zones and durations, are only available in the Rain Bird app. It is recommended to give each program a descriptive name for easy reference later.
Troubleshooting
- If the Rain Bird tab or Irrigation card is not appearing on the Partner Portal or MobileTech Equipment page, verify the account has the Irrigation service package add-on. For more information about updating the service package, see Update the service package on a customer account.
- If experiencing any general issues after adding the Rain Bird controller, force close the Rain Bird app and verify if the issue is resolved.
- If the controller successfully loaded but the zones did not load:
- Confirm the controller is On. If the dial of the controller is in the Off position, the Equipment List will not be provided.
- If the Rain Bird app is open, navigate to the Home page of the Rain Bird app (not the Edit Controller page), then request the Equipment List using the Alarm.com Partner Portal or MobileTech app.
- If it was necessary to force close the Rain Bird app, wait five minutes before requesting the Equipment List through Alarm.com.
- If the controller password is changed:
- Open the Rain Bird app.
- Select the Controller.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap to expand Connected Home.
- Tap the toggle switch next to Alarm.com off and on.
