LiftMaster & Chamberlain Wi-Fi Garage Door Opener Installation Guide

Required Items for Installation

  • LiftMaster or Chamberlain Wi-Fi Enabled Garage Door Opener (motor)
  • Smartphone, tablet, or laptop
  • Wi-Fi network name and password
  • 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi signal available in the garage

Caution: The Chamberlain LW5000EV, despite showing MyQ and Wi-Fi on its label, still requires a MyQ Internet Gateway or MyQ Smart Garage Hub for remote control.

For more information on compatibility, see Garage Door Compatibility.

Test the Wi-Fi Signal Strength

  1. Verify the mobile device is connected to the customer’s Wi-Fi network.
  2. Hold the device where the garage opener will be installed and check Wi-Fi strength.

Mount the Wi-Fi Garage Door Opener

Follow the mounting instructions provided with the garage door opener packaging.

Connect to the Wi-Fi Network

  1. Put the opener into Wi-Fi Setup Mode by pressing the yellow Learn button 2–3 times until the blue LED flashes.
  2. On a mobile device, connect to the Wi-Fi network with the MyQ- prefix.
  3. Open a browser and go to setup.myqdevice.com to complete setup.

Note: Do not register the device using the MyQ app. Registration will be completed through Alarm.com.

Register the Wi-Fi Garage Door Opener

  1. Ensure the service package includes Garage Door & Gate Control and LiftMaster Integration.
  2. Log into the Alarm.com Customer Website.
  3. Go to SettingsManage DevicesAdd DeviceGarage Door.
  4. Select the desired LiftMaster device and follow on-screen instructions.

Troubleshooting

  • If already registered with MyQ, remove the device before adding it to Alarm.com.
  • If Wi-Fi setup fails, run a full open/close cycle and retry.
  • Erase Wi-Fi settings by holding the black adjustment button until 3 beeps are heard (≈6 seconds).
  • Move router closer or use a Wi-Fi range extender if signal is weak.
  • Some LED bulbs may cause interference—see LiftMaster’s approved bulb list.
