Kwikset Obsidian Z-Wave Lock Enrollment & Deletion Guide
The Kwikset Obsidian Touchscreen Electronic Deadbolt uses encrypted Z-Wave communication for secure smart home integration. This guide covers how to add (enroll) or delete the lock from a Z-Wave network while minimizing learn-in errors.
Important: Do not add or delete user codes locally on the lock. Always use the Alarm.com web interface to manage user codes.
Best Practices to Avoid Learn-In Failures
- Keep the lock within six feet of the panel or module during enrollment.
- Send one command at a time—Z-Wave locks require multiple secure exchanges.
- Wait at least two minutes before operating the lock locally after adding.
- Always run a Network Rediscovery after installation is complete.
How to Enroll the Kwikset Obsidian into a Z-Wave Network
- Place the security panel in Add Mode.
- On the lock’s interior, press the [A] button once. The red LED will illuminate, confirming Add Mode.
- Wait two minutes before testing local lock/unlock functions.
- Verify the lock appears on the Alarm.com web portal and responds to remote commands.
- Move the lock to its final location.
- Run a Network Rediscovery through the Partner Portal or MobileTech app.
How to Delete the Lock from a Z-Wave Network
- Place the security panel in Delete Mode.
- On the lock’s interior, press the [A] button once. The red LED will illuminate, confirming Delete Mode.
- Run a Network Rediscovery after deletion to update the Z-Wave mesh.
