Alarm.com notifications and rules

Requirements

To activate notifications and rules for the 2GIG doorbell:

  • The customer must have Sensor Activity Monitoring (SAM) enabled on their account. For more information about SAM, see Enable or disable Sensor Activity Monitoring
  • The doorbell must be programmed in the panel as an RF sensor. The sensor group Alarm.com generally recommends is 23-No Response Type, which allows for notifications when the doorbell is activated.
Notification setup

To set up a 2GIG doorbell button push to send a notification, create a Sensor Activity notification. For more information about setting up notifications, see Create/edit a notification

Video recording setup

Important: The customer must have a video camera associated to their Alarm.com account to set up video recordings triggered by the 2GIG doorbell.

To set up a 2GIG doorbell button push to trigger a video recording, create a Sensor Opened or Closed recording rule.  For more information about setting up recording rules, see Create/edit a video recording rule

Secondary door chime

The 2GIG doorbell can work with a secondary door chime, which is an external speaker source that outputs the door chime so the customer can hear it not only from the panel but from another location in the residence. Typically customers use a TS1 keypad to hear the panel from another location in the residence, but a secondary door chime is another option for customers to use.

To program a compatible speaker or siren:
  1. Wire the positive (+) wire to terminal 1, and the negative (-) wire to terminal 4.
  2. In system programming, program Q78 to select option 11 then save the changes to panel programming.
  3. After Q78 is successfully programmed, test the device and door chime.
