Troubleshooting: ADC-VDB770 Not Ringing Indoor Chime
If your ADC-VDB770 Video Doorbell is not ringing the indoor chime, use the following steps to diagnose and resolve the issue.
Step 1: Verify the Original Chime
Reconnect the original doorbell button to the chime to confirm that it functions properly. If the chime does not ring, the issue may be with the chime or transformer.
Step 2: Check LED Behavior
Press the doorbell button:
- If the LED double-blinks blue, see the guide on ADC-VDB770 LED behaviors.
- If the LED is solid or another color, continue troubleshooting.
Step 3: Verify Power & Wiring
Power Requirements
- AC transformer: 16–30V AC, 10–30VA
- DC transformer: 15–30V DC, 8W minimum
- Important: The power module included with the ADC-VDB770 is required for every installation.
Power Module Wiring
- Gray wires: Connect to transformer and ADC-VDB770 (no polarity).
- White wires: Connect to chime’s Front/Rear and Trans terminals (or to a 10W 10Ω resistor if no chime is present).
- Digital chimes: If chime fails after connecting, reverse polarity of white wires.
Avoid mounting the power module where it could obstruct chime operation (e.g., between striker plate and plunger).
Step 4: Confirm Chime Type Settings
In the Customer app or website, ensure the correct chime type is selected:
- Mechanical chime: Select Mechanical
- Digital chime: Select Digital
- No chime: Select None (resistor required)
Step 5: Enable Indoor Chime
In the Customer Website or app, check that Indoor Chime is enabled in the doorbell camera settings.
Step 6: Reboot the ADC-VDB770
- Press and hold the button for 60–75 seconds until the LED flashes yellow.
- Release and wait for the device to reboot.
Step 7: Factory Reset (if needed)
- Press and hold the button for 75 seconds until the LED flashes red and green.
- Release and allow the device to reboot.
- Re-enroll the device using the Customer app or MobileTech app.
