Video Doorbell Configuration Best Practices
Follow these best practices to configure your Alarm.com video doorbell for reliable recordings, notifications, and video analytics.
Recordings Upon Button Press
- Log into the Alarm.com Customer Website.
- Click Video.
- Click + Add New Rule.
- Select Doorbell Call Rule.
Notifications Upon Button Press
Using the Customer Website
- Click Notifications.
- Click + New Notification.
- Select Doorbell Call.
Using the Customer App
- Tap Notifications.
- Tap +.
- Select Doorbell Call.
Notifications & Recordings for People Approaching
Using the Customer Website
- Click Video.
- Click + Add New Rule.
- Select Video Analytics.
Using the Customer App
- Tap Video.
- Tap Recording Rules.
- Tap + New Rule.
- Select Video Analytics.
Note: Only one Video Analytics recording rule can be created per device. Only Ground Zone rules are available, and only people can be detected.
Video Doorbell Call Navigation
- Tap Talk to start a two-way conversation.
- Once a call starts, Talk changes to Mute. Tap to silence audio.
- Tap End Call to exit.
- Adjust call audio volume using the slider.
- Tap Actions to control locks, lights, panel, garage doors, or access control doors.
Did You Know?
- Doorbell Analytics clips appear in Highlights on both the Customer Website and App.
