Typical location |
AC transformers are most commonly installed next to the breaker box in a home or in the walls of a house. The wires may need to be traced to find the transformer. Most SkyBell Doorbell Camera installations make use of the existing chime and transformer in the building. The chime is an important part of the circuit because it regulates the power from the transformer. |
Other considerations |
If the transformer has multiple outputs, verify that the SkyBell Doorbell Camera and chime are wired to the correct leads for their power needs. For help installing a low voltage transformer in a building, refer to a professional electrician. |
Note: For regions where 220-240 VAC 50/60 Hz is used, Alarm.com has tested and certified the use of the Zamel TRM-12 transformer for certain SkyBell Doorbell Cameras. For more information about the Zamel TRM-12, see DIN or surface mount doorbell transformer (Zamel TRM-12).
