Motion Detection 2.0 for Slim Line I Doorbell Cameras
Applies to Slim Line I Wi-Fi Doorbell Cameras (ADC-VDB105/106). Motion Detection 2.0 pairs enhanced video-based motion detection with the existing PIR sensor and is enabled by default on newly enrolled devices with supported firmware.
Required Firmware
- ADC-VDB105/106 on firmware 3058+ Required
- Motion Detection 1.0 refers to firmware 3052 or lower (still selectable in settings).
Motion Detection 1.0 vs 2.0
Feature | Motion Detection 1.0 | Motion Detection 2.0 |
---|---|---|
PIR (infrared) | Uses the full screen | Uses the full screen |
Video motion layer | Full-screen motion detection | Enhanced motion detection using a fixed lower portion of the frame (where people/pets typically appear) |
Object size | Not explicitly configurable | Object size matters (helps ignore tiny/irrelevant movement) |
Sensitivity slider | Adjusts the seconds of continuous motion required before a trigger | Adjusts detection area scaling and the minimum object size (higher = more sensitive) |
PIR override | — | “Extremely High” sensitivity disables PIR |
Automatic Settings After Firmware Upgrade
When upgrading from 3052 or lower to 3058+, the doorbell auto-maps old settings to the new mode:
Firmware Before | Sensitivity Before | After Upgrade (3058+) |
---|---|---|
3052 or lower | Medium | Sensitivity: Medium Mode: 1.0 |
3052 or lower | Low, High, Very High, or Extremely High | Sensitivity: Medium Mode: 2.0 |
3054 (beta) | Any | Sensitivity: Retained Mode: 2.0 |
Quick Tips for Best Results
- Mount to cover approach paths so motion appears in the lower portion of the frame.
- If you get too many pings, lower sensitivity or increase minimum object size (2.0).
- For missed events, raise sensitivity one step and re-test.
- Remember: “Extremely High” in 2.0 disables PIR—use thoughtfully.
