How to Connect the ADC-VC726 Camera to the Internet
The ADC-VC726 security camera connects to the Internet using an Ethernet cable. When Power over Ethernet (PoE) is used, both power and data are delivered through a single Ethernet cable via a PoE-compatible networking device.
Ethernet Connection Options
The ADC-VC726 can be powered and connected in two different ways depending on your setup:
- With PoE: Use the Ethernet port for both power and data. This is the most efficient option. For details, see How Power-over-Ethernet Works with Alarm.com Video Devices.
- Without PoE: Use an Ethernet cable for data and connect a separate AC power adapter.
Important Notes
- If PoE is unavailable, an AC adapter must be purchased separately.
- Compatible AC adapter: ADC-VACC-PWR-VC101 (available on the Alarm.com Partner Portal).
Available Ports
- Ethernet Port: Provides power (via PoE) and data connection.
- 2.1 mm DC Port: Accepts AC power when PoE is not used.
Wireless Capabilities
The ADC-VC726 is a hardwired-only device and does not support Wi-Fi directly. However, Wi-Fi functionality can be added using the ADC-W110 PoE-to-Wi-Fi Bridge, which converts a PoE connection into a wireless signal.
Troubleshooting Tips
- If the camera is not powering on, check that your switch or injector is PoE-compatible.
- When using an AC adapter, confirm it matches the specifications (SKU: ADC-VACC-PWR-VC101).
- Verify Ethernet cables are properly connected and secured at both ends.
